Introducing the New Faces of BOCA: Jennifer Zimmer

Why did you choose PR as a career?

In high school, I wrote for the school newspaper and knew I wanted to major in journalism. Once I started digging more into journalism, I discovered public relations, where the opportunities and paths seemed endless. While tech PR wasn’t where I pictured myself fresh out of college, it’s where the jobs were. Now, I can’t picture myself anywhere else. It’s an industry that I have become passionate about. I love learning about new technologies that are constantly changing the world we live in, and I love that PR helps tell those stories.

What drew you to BOCA?

I was introduced to BOCA by a former colleague, and I was immediately drawn to the agency’s commitment to its values, clients and employees. I love that a career at BOCA allows me to constantly challenge myself and build my own path to growth.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Every day is different, and every day brings a new story to tell. It’s exciting to become an industry expert and help your clients strategically tell their stories. The best part of it all? The results, when you get to see the story come to life and the excitement that brings for your client, your team and yourself.

What do you like to do for fun?

Traveling. Cooking. Spending time with my family, especially my two (wild and crazy) daughters. Taking advantage of summertime in Michigan — it’s the best time of year (lots of hiking, boating, beach days and soaking up the warm weather while it lasts).

What’s your favorite show?

“Grey’s Anatomy.” I will cry uncontrollably when it comes to an end.

If you weren’t in PR, what would you do?

If I weren’t in PR, I would be an interior designer or a judge on Top Chef (dream big, right?).
