Happy Pride xo BOCA

It’s June and that means BOCA is celebrating love in all of its forms. I’m a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community and have been my entire life; it is rooted in who I am and the way I was raised. As the founder of BOCA Communications, I make it a priority to infuse the ideologies of acceptance and tolerance into our company culture and the values we hold near and dear.

BOCA has proudly selected The Trevor Project as the recipient of this month’s donation matching program just as we do every June. The Trevor Project does amazing work and is the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ+ young people. The organization offers multiple intervention and prevention resource programs, including TrevorLifeline, TrevorText, and TrevorChat as well as the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ+ youth, TrevorSpace. Trevor also operates an education program with resources for youth-serving adults and organizations, an advocacy department fighting for pro-LGBTQ+ legislation and against anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric/policy positions, and a research team to discover the most effective means to help young LGBTQ+ people in crisis and end suicide.

As I shared last year, I grew up amongst gay men and women thanks to my Mom, Terry, and her career. (She owned a travel agency and her main clientele were gay men – in fact – her agency coordinated same sex marriages in International Waters.)  I have wonderful memories with the LGBTQ+ community, the amazing people that became my Mom’s closest friends. A community of people filled with diversity and acceptance.

My Mom now lives in Puerto Vallarta, a place I also call home (my sister lives in Vallarta too.)  Puerto Vallarta is such a beautiful and inclusive place it makes perfect sense that it is now the no. 1 gay vacation destination in all of Mexico and has the largest gay population in all of Mexico.

I love my LGBTQ+ friends and family everyday – I shout it even higher from the rooftops this month. This world needs more love and acceptance. Celebrating Pride Month is one step closer and BOCA is proud to be a part of the movement.
