BOCA Supports PRSA Silicon Valley and SF Press Club

By November 30, 2023 No Comments

BOCA Communications strives to be an integrated part of the tech PR community, and this December we have put our support behind both PRSA Media Predicts and SF Press Club. The BOCA team is grateful to be able to sponsor events such as these, which connect journalism to PR and allow members of the community to bond and learn from each other as they discuss the future of their industries.

PRSA Silicon Valley is hosting its annual Media Predicts event, meant to foster unity and purpose, connecting media and communications professionals from all over the Bay Area. BOCA has been a proud sponsor of Media Predicts in years past and continues to support the community this holiday season. There is no better place to network and connect with reporters, journalists, and PR professionals, and proceeds from the event will go to the Diversity Multicultural Scholarship through the PRSA Foundation.

There will be a panel of top communications professionals reflecting on the year in journalism and discussing potential trends for the upcoming year. Panelists include Cade Metz of the New York Times, Connie Guglielmo of CNET, Shawn Chitnis of CBS Bay Area, and Kali Hays of Business Insider. Yvette Noel-Schure will also be speaking, as the recipient of the 2023 “Unity and Purpose Presidential Award.”

PRSA Media Predicts will be hosted at the Grand Bay Hotel, Redwood Shores, on Dec. 6. Doors open for networking at 6 p.m., with dinner beginning at 7:15 and programming at 7:45. Buy tickets here!

In addition, the SF Press Club is hosting their annual Awards Gala to celebrate excellence in journalism media, and BOCA is a breakthrough sponsor for the event this year. As BOCA’s founder, Kathleen Shanahan, says, “As marketing communications professionals, we work with journalists daily and we aspire to be true partners.” Once again, the Journalism Awards recognized a record number of entries and will award Pam Moore of KRON4 News with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

Curtis Sparrer, the president of SF Press Club, lauds Kathleen and BOCA for its support of journalism in the Bay Area, calling her “a role model for communication professionals who rely on media connections to serve their clients. We look forward to the day when more PR and marketing professionals support excellence in journalism as a mission-critical component to their success.”

The SF Press Club Awards Gala takes place on Dec. 13 at The Elks Lodge #3 at 450 Post Street in San Francisco. Cocktail service begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and awards commencing at 6:30. CNBC’s Deirdre Bosa of TechCheck and KPIX’s Ryan Yamamoto will host, and Heather Knight of the New York Times will take part in a special Q&A about the biggest issues in the media.
