Spreading the BOCAlove this February

By February 23, 2021 No Comments

What is it about February that is so lovable? So many things make February special.

February is the only month with 28 days. February has an extra day every four years during Leap Year. February is the month of Valentine’s Day, a day of honoring love. This February also has Chinese New Year, a day of honoring new beginnings.

I also consider February the month of BOCA. Just like February is special and unique, BOCA is special and unique. In fact, BOCA had its very first formal party with clients, family, friends, and members of the media on February 29, 2008. I was so proud of that event. We had only two clients (Devicescape and Narus) and we loved them and still do. Talk about wonderful new beginnings!

Ever since BOCA was founded, we’ve honored February in some form of celebration and every Leap Year we throw a party to say thank you to our fellow BOCAteers, current and past clients, members of the industry, and our other agency friends.

In celebration of this February month of BOCAlove, I’ve asked other BOCAteers what they love about their professional or personal lives; or to share anything they want to share in the spirit of love. We are putting this positive energy out to the universe.

Kathleen Shanahan, BOCA Founder
Beyond founding and leading BOCA, I am thankful to my family – Christian, August and Declan. I am thankful for the love that I have for my 84 year old mother whom I continue to strategize with to this day and my sister who is a dear friend even if we do fight. In 2021, I am especially thankful for my health and the health of my family, friends, and work colleagues. On a lighter note, I am also thankful for the privilege of working on my laptop outdoors in the sunshine every chance I get.

Wendy Brittain, Director of HR
I like February because of all the signs that Spring is just around the corner. The weather starts to warm up (at least in Northern California, where I was wearing a t-shirt the other day), the hills are lush and green, the birds are chirping, and I’m getting excited to start planting my Spring garden. February signals the beginning of regeneration and growth; I think that can be applied to both nature and to business, especially after the weird year that was 2020.

Brittney Timmins, Account Director
I like February because the year still feels new and fresh, it’s a month of hope (Spring is coming!), a month to celebrate love, and the month of delicious chocolate-y treats.

Jenn Zimmer, Account DirectorI like February because (in a non-Covid world) it’s when my family and I plan a mini-escape from the snowy winters in Michigan to sunshine and warmth. While we didn’t get to escape the snow this year, February is still a reminder that Spring is coming. So shout out to all those in the midwest waiting on Spring this month!

Taylor Byers, Account Supervisor
I like February because it is filled with lots of celebrations for my family — birthdays, anniversaries and, of course, Valentine’s Day! It’s also the only month (for us Californians) that seems like true winter, with brisk weather, light rainy days and beautiful sunsets.
