Meet the Interns!

By April 29, 2022 No Comments

BOCA is super excited to share that we have brought aboard two new interns – Marlene and Gillian! We are so excited to have them as a part of our team and know they are going to be incredible assets. Read on to find out more about them and what makes them so special…

Marlene Becerril

My name is Marlene but my friends call me Marlene or my middle name Analee.

Where do you go to school? Or where did you graduate from?
I attended school at California State University Sacramento. Stingers up!

What attracted you to BOCA?
What attracted me to BOCA was the opportunity to dive into tech PR. Especially as a recent graduate, I think it is difficult to find opportunities like this one and I’m grateful to be here!

What is life all about for you?
Life is about remembering to enjoy the small moments. Sometimes we get caught up in the busyness of the world and we forget to take a moment to actually appreciate our day. I actually have a small daughter and it’s important to teach her that you don’t always have to run in life to get somewhere. I think it’s important to take time and appreciate where you are and how you got there even if it takes you a little longer… just appreciate the process!

Why did you decide to start working in PR?
I think my interest in PR started back in college during a communications class, where the professor gave us an assignment (that I thought was very weird) and it showed me the possibilities and opportunities that a career in PR could potentially bring me in the future.

What do you do for fun when you’re not killing it at BOCA?
I actually create content for brands in the food and beverage industry. I have been creating content for about a year now and I have had amazing opportunities to work for brands such as Target, YouTube and 7-Eleven.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to Switzerland. I don’t know why but I always come across videos and images of the Swiss Alps on social media. I would love to go and experience seeing it in person and not just through my phone!

What are you binge watching right now?
I’m a little embarrassed to admit this… but I am binge-watching “How I Met Your Mother”… I want to start watching “How I Met Your Father” but I have to watch the original series before watching the spin-off!

What are your ultimate career goals?
My ultimate career goal is to be at a place where I am happy and in peace. I want to grow with my experiences and be kind to myself in the process.

Gillian Seibert

My name is Gillian but my friends call me Gill or Gilly!

Where do you go to school? Or where did you graduate from?
I graduated from Cal State Long Beach in January 2022. I have my graduation ceremony this May! Go Beach!

What attracted you to BOCA?
I joined BOCA to get involved in enticing projects that could challenge me as an up-and-coming professional in the PR industry. On top of the fascinating work, the way BOCA has welcomed me with open arms makes our team feel like a family.

What is life all about for you?
For me, life is all about being around family and friends, seeking new experiences and traveling, and eating too much while sipping on a nice glass of wine!

Why did you decide to start working in PR?
I decided to start working in PR because I love the power of storytelling and I find it very interesting that a company’s success can be directly associated with the narrative built around its business.

What do you do for fun when you’re not killing it at BOCA?
In my free time, I am an amateur food critic, a full-time cat mom, and a dancing queen.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Right now my top places I would love to travel to are Greece and Portugal. I have always thought Greece has been so beautiful and would love to swim in that crystal blue water while having a “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” moment. Portugal has always been a place my family and I have dreamed of traveling to because we are Portuguese, so I hope to go there soon.

What are you binge watching right now?
The old episodes of “Real Housewives of New York” and “The Wilds.”

What are your ultimate career goals?
My ultimate career goal is to eventually develop into a leadership role where I can guide a team and put others in positions to succeed. As I grow, I want to problem solve at the highest level and make decisions that help companies flourish.
