Luck of the Irish

By March 17, 2022 No Comments

When your boss’s last name is Shanahan, you know you’re going to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! While the BOCA team hails from all different parts of the world, today we are sporting our green and saluting the Irish with a virtual happy hour. We’ll be playing Jackbox games and doing a beer share and tell. (The beer might not be green, but it will definitely be delicious!)

From the bright green river in Chicago to the boisterous parades on the streets of SF, everyone loves an excuse to have some fun! COVID put a damper on festivities the past couple of years, so now more than ever people are ready to party. Below, a few BOCAteers share how their city celebrates one of the most beloved holidays…

I live in Chicago where St. Patrick’s day is huge!! We have a large Irish population, myself included, and so the city really goes all out. The most well known event is the dying of the Chicago River and the Southside Irish parade. People of all backgrounds come out to celebrate and enjoy the beginning of spring in the city.

The city of St. Paul has a big parade on St. Patrick’s day, I will definitely have it on the TV while working (it starts at noon local time). And depending on the weather in still-frigid Minneapolis, there is a decent chance I will enjoy a green beer or two at one of the local Irish pubs!

We have several celebrations around the city, including the Irish Festival at Seattle Center and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade downtown that took place last weekend. I’ll be celebrating my birthday as well so I will definitely plan to join the St. Patrick’s Day festivities this weekend!
