BOCAteer Spotlight: Lauren Brown

By November 29, 2022 No Comments

My name is Lauren but my friends call me Laur, Lo

What do you do at BOCA?
I write for the BOCA Beat and also work on various accounts assisting with content creation, media relations, research and reporting and whatever else I’m needed with!

What is life all about for you?
Living life to the fullest and making memories with my family and friends. Spending time with the people I love fills my bucket and I try to remind myself regularly that life is short and you never know what tomorrow will bring.

What drew you to PR?
I really love working with people and have always been interested in the news and trends. I think this industry is so exciting and intriguing and it really comes down to relationships. I am also a fiercely loyal person, so it is in my nature to give one hundred percent for my clients and help them achieve their media goals. My story is a bit unusual… I graduated from Michigan State University (go Spartans!!) with a degree in communications/public relations and worked in the industry for a few years before I decided to go to graduate school for education. I spent ten years teaching and loved it, but like so many in the field, I was exhausted, undervalued and burnt out. When Covid hit, I was ready to move on and I decided to come back to my roots! I am thrilled to be here and working at BOCA with such an amazing team.

What do you do for fun when you’re not killing it at BOCA?
My husband works in wine and we are big foodies. We love trying new restaurants, and living in Chicago there is always something new to check out. Typically though, my weekends consist of shuttling my kids around to various sporting activities and birthday parties. Recently I took a leadership role with Moms Demand Action, a grassroots organization that is working to stop gun violence in this country, and while it might not be ‘fun’ it is most definitely a priority for me.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I am going to South Africa next year!

What are you binge-watching right now?
I just finished “From Scratch” on Netflix….wow was that a sob-fest. I also love Yellowstone and am excited about the new season.

What is your number one motivator?
My family – everything I do is with them in mind. Whether it is directly for them, or I am working on myself to indirectly benefit them, they are my number one.
